10 ONLINE VIDEO CONTENT IDEAS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Where to find writers for your website is a subject we have covered extensively through our blog. Today, we want to focus on reaching out to customers with PR methods such as producing online videos for business.

In a previous post, we explored different social media video websites and provided an extensive list of where you could upload your videos. See using online video to promote your business.

The ability to create and share video online has outstanding benefits for your business, especially if the medium is utilised correctly. Reaching a global audience with your brand or product speaks volumes about the benefits of producing your own online video.

While you don’t have to be a technology wiz to write, edit and produce an engaging video for your customers it helps if you have an understanding of the medium and where the best online portal for your content is.

In this post, we aim to provide you with a list of ideas to help you start thinking about the subjects your business could cover with online video and get you using this great communication tool in your business.

Customer success stories – do you know any customers who have had a great experience with your business or product and would be willing to sit down in front of their webcam and speak for a few minutes about it? The customer success story will help other customers see the value of your product or service – an unmistakably great communication and sales tool.

Staff interviews – what have you done for your staff lately? If you think your company is great to work for and your employees feel the same way, why not sit them down and have a chat about what they enjoy most about their role, their industry and working for you. This type of video will help when recruiting for roles in the future.

CEO messages – In larger companies, the CEO is often a mythical figure who is rarely seen or heard of – except by the executive team. For this reason, a regular series of messages from the CEO to help filter information to staff and the community, especially from a crisis management point of view is a great idea. A well executed video will help set people’s minds at ease and bring a sense of community to the workplace.

Expert opinion and advice – If you are a specialist in your field, then people who are interested in your business area will appreciate the thought leadership you bring to the table. Getting people talking about your business area or product only adds to its appeal and if you are genuine, open and honest your customers and peers will respect that and trust will follow. In business, trust is everything.

Behind the scenes footage – showing potential customers or clients how your product is manufactured or what typical day in your business involves is a great way to engage, educate and inform.  It also shows credibility – an invaluable business asset.

Slideshow or presentation – if you’ve recently presented at a seminar or put together an informative slideshow about your product or business, then providing a voiceover and uploading your presentation is a great way of increasing your reach.

Answer a question – if you find there is one thing a customer always wants to know then produce a short segment about it. Typically, there will be a number of things a customer wants to know about you or your product so why not turn it into a short series of Q&A videos?

Demonstration videos – get onscreen and show people how to use your product. If you produce a food product, a cooking demonstration will work well.  Don’t forget to provide a link to download the recipe from your website.

Get out and about with staff – if your employees have a sports team or attend a charity event, then go along with them and showcase what they are doing. While you’re there why not consider sponsoring their team or the charity they are  supporting?

Trade show footage – if you’ve gone to the trouble to register and participate in a trade show then go the extra mile and make some footage of your efforts. Chances are someone will be curious about what you are doing and you can direct them to your site where they can see for themselves the type of company you are.

Remember, producing and uploading a video isn’t necessarily the key to success in online videos, especially if you are promoting a product or event. You want your viewers to share your content and make it easy to find, adding tags, linking your content, republishing on your different social media networks and blogging about it will help people find you and want to share your story.
